Update

Hope this finds you all well and with power in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy!   Although we had 24 hours without electricity at home, we are grateful that the restaurant did not lose power.  whew.....After testing a couple of recipes for an upcoming column in Spirit of Change Magazine - literally cooking by candlelight as well as dining by candlelight, we did manage to make the best of the darkness. Six of us took a long, walk in the rain after dinner with dogs in tow and flashlights in hand.  A board game by the fire with lots of laughs finished off the evening.  As fun as last night was, really happy to have the lights back on and more importantly the power to my freezer with all my berries for the winter back on!  Enjoy this week's update.

Saturday 10/20: Blues, r&b

For music this week at nourish, we have the Biscuit Rollers coming Saturday night to play some high energy Blues and r&b.  The Biscuit Rollers music has often been referred to as the Ultimate Rhytmic Blues.  If this sounds like something you'd like to hear, then come by for some great music performed by great musicians.  The Biscuit Rollers will be playing from 7:30-10:30PM

Local Wine Tasting/Local Fish Dinner Postponed

We are postponing the Local Wine Tasting/Local Fish Benefit scheduled for Tuesday night.

We plan to re-schedule the wine tasting with Coastal Vineyards for Friday, November 30th
.

We will continue to support our local, small boat fishermen and women through our purchasing and look forward to highlighting the work of the Northwest Atlantic Marine Alliance (www.namanet.org) at future events.

My recent trip to Scotland

After a 5 mile hike on a damp day we landed at the Kenmore Hotel - evidently the oldest in Scotland to finally enjoy a wee dram of Scotch and High Tea.   The Scotch warmed us up and the high tea was more plentiful than we could have possibly imagined!  What anyone failed to mention to us was that one order of high tea could easily have fed 3-4 people and we had ordered one each!

It was a great laugh to see the wait staff march in with all of this food and the leftovers were put to great use the next day. Rabbie Burns in 1787 was so struck by the area that he composed a poem sitting on the bridge over the Tay and wrote it in pencil on the chimney breast of the fireplace in the Poets Bar - where it is to this day.

Saturday 10/6: Boogie, Blues, Ballads

This Saturday night, come by to see one of nourish's most frequently played, fun duos!  Tim Gartland and Tom West will be in the house for an awesome performance of Boogie, Blues, and Ballads from 7:30-10:00 PM!
